Literacy Kit Project

United Way’s literacy kits encourage young children and families to read together and prepare for kindergarten.

DID YOU KNOW when children are not reading proficiently by the end of third grade, research shows they are more likely to drop out of school or not graduate on time? Unfortunately, many young students in Wyoming Valley are already on this path. Literacy kits can help.

Each kit contains a children’s book, some classroom supplies, and a variety of fun learning activities designed to help support letter and number recognition, counting, and recognizing patterns.
