United Way of Wyoming Valley serves as the convener of the Local Emergency Food and Shelter Board which is made up of a body of volunteers dedicated to reviewing applications and recommending funding allocations to eligible organizations, as specified under the National Board guidelines. The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) Local Board is chaired by Kendra Vough, Director of Community Investment at United Way of Wyoming Valley.
Emergency Food & Shelter Program
Local board members are representatives of constituencies and organizations as required by the national EFSP program, including
- Catholic Charities
- Jewish Community Alliance
- United Way of Wyoming Valley
- The Salvation Army
- The American Red Cross, Wyoming Valley Chapter
- a local government agency
- a homeless advocate
In addition, the local board is also supported by representatives from businesses, local government, religious organizations, and nonprofits.
