Attendance Awareness

Chronic absenteeism disproportionately affects children in poverty and their chances of success in school.

Children who are chronically absent are much less likely to read at grade level by the third grade, making them four times more likely than proficient readers to drop out of high school. That’s why UNITED WAY OF WYOMING VALLEY is tackling chronic absenteeism.

"Attendance Matters"

Our Attendance Awareness Initiative, “Attendance Matters,” encourages local elementary school students in kindergarten through 3rd grade, and their families, to work together to create posters that illustrate the importance of good attendance.
