Dorothy Darling has continued her family’s legacy of generosity to support children and family programs throughout the Wyoming Valley. Although Dorothy no longer lives in the area, she continues to make significant contributions and carry on the tradition of giving back to the community that has been so important to her family. She has graciously allowed the United Way of Wyoming Valley to use her name to promote advanced levels of charitable giving to the community. This distinguished membership recognizes donors who contribute a minimum of $5,000 annually and prove that the combined efforts of a few individuals can make a compelling difference.
The Dorothy Darling Society has made a significant impact on the community by emulating Dorothy’s indomitable spirit of kindness and generosity. This year alone, the members of the Society collectively invested over $150,000 in the community through United Way, forging an impressive benchmark to which future members can aspire. Its members have exhibited great passion and leadership in improving the quality of life in the community, and care deeply about the individual lives that are changed with the help of United Way.
Such unwavering commitment exhibited by the Dorothy Darling members serves to dramatically improve the quality of life for those residents who cannot do it alone. For this, United Way would like to express its most heartfelt gratitude to the members of the 2006-2007 Dorothy Darling Society.
A special thank you to Doug and Melissa Gaudet, chairs of the Dorothy Darling Society, for hosting a dinner at their home to honor these individuals. The night was filled with fun, food, and memories had by all.
