Can I choose to designate my gift to a certain field of service or local non-profit agency ?YES! Community Care is the best way to reach the most people in your community. You reach the entire community with one donation. More than 100 volunteers decide where your money is needed most. Targeted Care allocates dollars to particular areas of service: children & young adults, elderly, homelessness, etc. (see your donor choice form). Donor designations to Specific Care are distributed to a particular nonprofit agency identified by the donor.Back to Top
How are service fees determined at United Way participating organizations? If I give to United Way, do I still have to pay for help from these participating organizations? Participating organizations' services are aimed at helping all people, no matter what their income level. Fees, when they apply, are based on an individual's income & ability to pay, with the intent to maximize donor contributions. In many cases, services are provided at no cost. Back to Top
How Does my United Way decide which agencies become United Way participating organizations? United Way participation is open to all non-profit health and human care agencies providing local services. These agencies must meet strict criteria which ensure that charitable dollars are used effectively and efficiently to address high priority unmet needs in our community. Back to top
