United Way of Wyoming Valley’s has expanded its Christmas in July Drive Competition to include Feeding and Reading. In 2018, employees at over 40 area businesses, industries, schools and other organizations spent the month of July holding food drives at their locations for the CEO/Weinberg Food Bank, or raising dollars to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free, high quality books to children from birth to age 5 to promote early learning and family reading.
When all was said and done, 15,902 lbs. of food were collected for the CEO/Weinberg Food Bank, and $31,116.62 was collected for United Way of Wyoming Valley’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The 2018 Food Collection nearly doubled the 2016 collection amount.
Thank you to everyone who made Christmas in July a huge success!

The Christmas in July Food Drive Competition started in 1989 as a way to reduce the "summer slump" in donations to area food banks. Since that time 1,466,598 lbs. of food have been collected to feed the hungry in the Wyoming Valley.
The drive runs annually during the month of July. Organizations that would like to be involved can contact Matt Ceruti at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
