1999 Campaign HighlightsThe 1999 Campaign raised a total of $ 4,650,488, an increase
of 5.6% over 1998 and $ 50,000 over the 1999 Goal. The total was announced during a
Victory Celebration at MotorWorld on December 15th, attended by over 300
people. A campaign awards and recognition banquet is being planned for May.
Key factors in this years achievement were continued growth of
leadership giving programs in workplaces, company campaigns that set and reached stretch
goals (many attending a CAN-DO session in July), and effective use of incentives for
increasing participation and giving. Most effective were two community-wide efforts, the $
25,000 challenge match grant from First Union National Bank and the raffle drawings for
the car, provided by MotorWorld, and a trip to Orlando provided by TRAVELWORLD.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the
campaign, especially the hundreds of campaign volunteers and the more than 25,000 people
who gave a gift to support local human and health care services in 2000. Many thanks also
to the companies that supported active employee and leadership giving campaigns in their
workplace.
2000 Campaign Planning Underway
Terry Casey, Vice-President for Private Asset
Management at Mellon Bank, is the 2000 General Campaign Chair. Terry is currently
assembling a Cabinet of volunteers to implement the strategies for increasing giving in
the fall 2000 Campaign. Growth of leadership giving programs is again a key strategy.
Attention will be given to conducting early CEO calls on targeted accounts.
