Promoting Youth Development

Traditional Scouting – Boy Scouts (Columbia/Montour Council)

  • A social program that, through rank advancement, will promote growth in citizenship, training, character development, and physical fitness.

Traditional Scouting – Boy Scouts (NEPA Council)

  • Provides an educational program for boys to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.

Learning for Life – Boy Scouts (NEPA Council)

  • An educational program that teaches young men and women about career opportunities in the local region.

Scoutreach – Boy Scouts (NEPA Council)

  • Provides scholarships for at-risk, low-income boys to attend an educational program to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.

Scholarships for Youth – Catholic Youth Center

  • Provides scholarships for at-risk, low-income children to participate in recreational, educational, and social development programs.  Scholarships offered for Summer Day Camp and Saturday/Sunday Recreational/Instructional Program.

Scouting – Girl Scouts

  • Provides a progressive learning experience where girls ages 5 through 17 gain awareness, develop knowledge and skills, and incorporate what they learn into their lives under the guidance of trained leaders and mentors.

Scholarships for Youth – Jewish Community Center

  • Provides scholarships for at-risk, low-income children to participate in comprehensive educational and recreational programming.  Scholarships offered for Children & Youth and Summer Camp.

Scholarships for Youth – Pittston YMCA

  • A financial assistance program that provides low income children with the opportunity to participate in YMCA programs including Pre-School, After School Care, Day Camp, Aquatics, Youth Sports, and Special Needs programs.

Scholarships for Youth – Wilkes-Barre YMCA

  • Provides scholarships for at-risk, low-income children to participate in comprehensive educational and recreational programming.  Programs include summer day camp, gymnastics, swim, soccer, basketball, t-ball, etc.
