Family Advocacy School Team – The Bridge
Counseling program for adolescents and their families, providing assessment and treatment services.
Adult and Family Services – Catholic Social Services
Counseling program designed to impact on problems confronted by adults of all ages, including individual and group/family counseling.
Court Advocate – Catholic Social Services
Forensic drug and alcohol assessment and counseling program for adults and adjudicated juveniles. Clients are referred by elements of the civil and criminal justice system, as well as Child Welfare and Juvenile Court system.
Outpatient Services – Children's Service Center
The least restrictive service in mental health treatment, providing psychological testing, medication assessment, medication monitoring, psychoeducation, acute care support, case management, parenting programs, and referrals.
Adult Counseling – Domestic Violence Center
Includes 24 hour hotlines, crisis intervention, advocacy, accompaniment to appointments and hearings, counseling, information and referral for victims of domestic violence, as well as community education and professional training.
Professional Counseling – Family Service Association
Licensed social workers provide family, couples, and individual counseling to meet the challenges in their lives.
Counseling – Jewish Family Service
Programs that provides assessment, counseling, and case management services for individuals, couples, families, and groups, as well as informational and referral to community resources.
New American Resettlement Program (Family Life Educ) – Jewish Family Service
Educates New Americans about integrations, self-awareness, the community, and Jewish American culture.
Sexual Assault Support – Victim's Resource Center
Support services provided to sexual assault victims and significant others to reduce the symptoms, reactions, and stresses due to victimization.
Outpatient Services – Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug
Clients attend one-hour individual, out-patient counseling sessions on a weekly basis with their primary therapist, addressing issues regarding substance abuse/addiction and the recovery process.
Partial Hospitalization – Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug
An intensive group therapy experience, where clients attend three days per week for fours hours each day for six weeks, with content focused on education, relapse prevention, and formulating plans for future productive activities.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters – The Bridge
Recruits, screens, and supervises matches of volunteers with children from single parent households.
Scholarships for Preschool/After School Programs – Catholic Youth Center
Provides scholarships for at-risk children ages 5-13 (who would otherwise be home without supervision during the hours after school) to participate in structured after school activities.
Provides scholarships for at-risk children ages 2-5 to participate in a variety of activities to promote proper physical, emotional, and social development (Preschool Program)
Scholarships for Day Care – Child Development Council
Provides scholarships (financial assistance) to child care for children of working parents, from 6 weeks to 12 years of age, based on family income level.
Nurse Family Partnership (FEC) – Community Counseling Services (at BHS)
A comprehensive nurse home visitation program for first-time, at-risk parents and their children. Services begin during pregnancy and continue until the children are three to five years old, providing family support and education.
FUEGO – Consumer Credit Counseling
A financial literacy program, for Spanish-speaking individuals, that focuses on budgeting skills, the wise use of credit, money traps, and saving and investing.
Community Education and Outreach – Family Service Association
Seven school-based programs that provide individuals, couples, and families with counseling, education, advocacy, and community organizing. (Parenting Preschoolers, Families and Schools Together (FAST), Parent-Child Home Program, Active Parenting, Connecting Families, Project Alert, and Second Steps)
Jump Start – Luzerne County Head Start
A supplemental summer session that serves at-risk children ages 3 and 4, providing cognitive, social, emotional, physical and nutritional activities. Includes 5 weekly parenting sessions.
Sexual Assault Prevention – Victim's Resource Center
Prevention education programs are presented to small groups of children in their school setting to reduce their risk of sexual victimization.
Prevention Program – Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services
Programs presented to college students, senior citizens, and parents to enhance the awareness of alcohol and its consequences. Programs also provided to day care/pre-schools on dangers of medicines and common household products.
Scholarships for Preschool and Membership – Wilkes-Barre YMCA
Provides financial assistance for children, based on family income level, 6 weeks to 5 years of age to participate in a variety of activities to develop emotional, cognitive, social, gross, and fine motor skills through a pre-school program.
Also provides membership assistance for youth, adults, families, and seniors, who are in need of financial assistance. |
