School Readiness

sr

In 2002, after a comprehensive needs assessment, school readiness was found to be a significant issue in this community. Since that time, Success By 6® has worked to develop resources for parents and professionals in the community to help them prepare children for school. Another crucial component of our school readiness initiative is public awareness to ensure that our community is focused on helping all children succeed in school.

Did you know that....

  • Approximately 50% of young children with limited vocabularies will not graduate from high school.

  • For every $1 invested in high-quality early childhood education, approximately $17 is saved in the future by reducing costs associated with juvenile delinquency, remedial/special education, unemployment, criminal justice/rehabilitation, and out-of-home placements.

It is the belief of Success By 6® that preparing for school begins at birth. In other words, all of your interactions with your child up to the time he or she enters school will impact his or her success. To address the needs of infants and toddlers, the committee is working on developing resources that will be availabe for mothers and fathers in the hospitals after delivery. More information on how you can help your child get ready for school and life is on our resources page.
