Quality Care/Special Needs

qc

In 2002, it was found that enhancing the overall quality of childcare was a need in the community.  Recently, Pennsylvania has also identifed this need statewide. To address this issue, the Department of Public Welfare has adopted the Keystone STARS Initiative, the BUILD Initiative, and the TEACH Scholarship program.  Our Success By 6® Initiative collaborates with each program to assist in the work that the State of Pennsylvania is striving to accomplish.

Success By 6® partners with Early Intervention to help childcare centers obtain the resources they need to allow them the opportunity to offer inclusive early learning environments.  It is our belief that including children with special needs is a critical component of quality early learning services.

Did you know that....

  • 90 % of a child's brain is developed by age 3.
  • By 6 months of age babies are developing reasoning and problem-solving skills."
  • By 1 year babies begin to develop the mechanisms to process and modulate emotions.
  • How babies are interacted with, responded to, and, yes, even played with, affects this developement.
